G.Power (Erdfelder, Faul, & Buchner, 1996) was designed as a general stand-alone power analysis program for statistical tests commonly used in social and behavioral research. G.Power 3 is a major extension of, and improvement over, the previous versions. It runs on widely used computer platforms (i.e., Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X 10.4) and covers many different statistical tests of.
A streamlined and powerful macOS utility specially made to help you compute statistical power analyses using a wide variety of tests
What's new in G*Power 3.1.9.6:
- Fixed a bug in z tests: Generic z test: Analysis: Criterion: Compute alpha: The critical z was calculated incorrectly.
- Fixed a bug in t tests: Linear bivariate regression: One group, size of slope: |sy/sx| was sometimes calculated inccorrecty.
G*Power is a straightforward macOS application capable to computer statistical power analyses for various “t”, “F”, “X2”, “z” and other exact tests.
Powerful and versatile utility for statistical power analyses
With G*Power’s help, you have the power to computer effect sizes and graphically display the results of power analyses.
Moreover, you can perform five different types of analysis as follows: a priori, compromise, criterion, post-hoc and sensitivity. Additional information about each of the supported tests is available in G*Power’s manual.
From G*Power’s main window you can quickly select the desired test family, as well as the statistical test via the “Test Family” and “Statistical test” drop-down menus.
As expected, G*Power also helps you select the type of power analysis and allows you to manually insert the input parameters.
Manually insert your data and check the results
You can read the output parameters directly from within G*Power’s main window and perform a calculation using the given data. The graphic for the central and noncentral distributions is automatically calculated and displayed by G*Power once you click on the “Calculate” button.
By accessing the “Protocol of power analyses” tab you can read and copy the input and output data while the Power Plot window helps you draw plots using different parameters. G*Power allows you to generate up to 10 plots using interpolating points or intermediate points.
Generate X-Y plots for a range of values
In addition, you can select the function, adjust values and draw the let G*Power do the hard work for you. The File menu helps you save or print the protocol while the Tests menu offers you access to variances, proportions, means, correlation and regression, and more.
